Google UNiversal Analytics Being Retires - What To Do

Changes to Google Analytics - What Are We Doing?

You may have heard about Google's recent announcement that they will be retiring Universal Analytics, in approximately 14 months (at the time of this post), on July 1, 2023. Google recommends switching to their newer product, Google Analytics 4 (GA4). As most of our clients are currently using Universal Analytics with e-commerce tracking, we've had a few questions about how Acorn Marketing intends to handle this change.

First, to reiterate - this is not going into effect for over a year (at the time of this post) - on July 1, 2023. We are choosing not to move any accounts to GA4 precipitously without knowing exactly how revenue tracking will be affected.

We are committed to ensuring our clients are able to continue to see and use valuable revenue data in addition to website visits. In order to do this, we need to make sure that the reservation systems are able to work with Google Analytics 4 to show accurate revenue tracking. We will start testing when we know GA4 is available in the booking systems that are used by our clients, to make sure it will work for the majority of our clients moving forward.

We will keep you informed, and as soon as we make a decision on how to best handle the change, and what the costs may be to switch (if any), we will let our clients know how that process will work.
