When you take the time to set up a profile on Google + in order to show up in the search results for the content that you author, you want to make sure your settings are correct so that you don't miss your chance to have your content listings look like this:
After you've set up your profile and added your author tags to your website, use the Google Structured Data Testing Tool to make sure everything is working. You should see this result:
However, if you see this:
That would explain why your picture is not showing in the SERPs (search engine results pages).
To fix this, it's a simple click. Go to Google +, then click the SETTINGS link in the left-side navigation:
Now, on the settings page, scroll down to the PROFILE section, and you will likely see this:
Simply check the box next to the line that says: "Help others discover my profile in search results.":
This will allow your smiling face to appear next to your listings in the search results. Don't let a simple mouse click hold you back!
