Social Media (Twitter) and the Innkeeper - What a Story!

We just received this wonderful story from Whispering Pines Bed and Breakfast!  It's so awesome when our customers attend our Webinar training, take our advice and then run with it.  And WOW - the results!

  • Whispering Pines follows bnbfinder.com on twitter.
  • Bnbfinder.com tweeted a press release asking for B&B's with a 'Guy's Getaway" or 'Man-cation'.
  • Whispering Pines responded with their “Guy's Getway Package.”
  • The package was accepted by http://www.transworldnews.com/ (There were 4 packages selected and Whispering Pines was one of them!)
  • The New York Times spotted the transworldnews article and asked if they could put it in their newspaper story.
  • Of course, Whispering Pines said YES!
  • Today, Whispering Pines got a call from a writer and book author from Cleveland, Ohio -- John H. Tidyman, who writes about golf getaways. He is putting together a book regarding "Golf, Poker and Wiskey - A Guy's Getaway to Ohio Golf Vacations..."
  • This author read the story in the New York Times about the Whispering Pines "Guys Getaway Packages."
  • This author wants to do a chapter connecting Whispering Pines to a golf course in the area.
  • This author just interviewed Whispering Pines for the book.
  • John H. Tidyman and his wife are going to come stay at Whispering Pines Bed & Breakfast -- Summer 2010.

Isn't it absolutely interesting and fabulous the way social networking works ?!   Thanks to Linda at Whispering Pines for sharing this story!

  1. This is a great story and one we will use in our Innkeeper Training classes for those interested in owning a Bed and Breakfast. New innkeepers need to realize that social media is a very important form of networking.

  2. Congratulations to Whispering Pines Bed and Breakfast and all the other inns that are involved in social media and networking sites, such as Twitter and Facebook — and kudos to Acorn for their webinars which help inns do this. Today, many guests and the media rely on these sites to learn about B&Bs and the industry. We're using social networking to easily communicate with many of our inns and have created a private Twitter account called Twitter.com/TweetInn, for inns that want to increase their media exposure. Whispering Pines Bed and Breakfast is a great example of an inn that has successfully managed to adapt to a changing media landscape!
