PAII - The Professional Association of Innkeepers International has released their biannual Industry Study of Innkeeping Operations and Finance.
This study includes trends for occupancy rates, room prices and bed and breakfast revenues, etc.
Just a few high points:
- 2008 Hotel Occupancy 60%
- 2007 Hotel Occupancy 63%
- Inns appear to be moving from offering Common Area amenities over to more Inn Room amenities.
- The average B&B has been open for 15 years
- The typical B&B has between 4 and 11 rooms, with 6 guest rooms or suite being the average
- 29% of B&Bs were in rural locations, 23% were urban, 5% suburban, and 43% were village
