What’s happening to Google Places for Business?

A few lucky Innkeepers had the pleasure of hearing Joel Headly of Google’s Consumer Operations group at this years Mid Atlantic Innkeepers Conference special Local U session on Sunday March 10, 2013.

At this session, many questions were asked about claiming your “Google Places for Business” listing data. At the time, Joel asked that everyone “HOLD OFF” doing this process, that Google had plans underway.

Yesterday, Google announced an “upgrade to the look and feel of Google Places for Business that will roll out to business owners over the coming weeks.”

  • An upgraded, more intuitive interface
  • An “At a glance Widget” to know how complete your Business Profile is
  • Most edits for your business will go LIVE faster (typically in 48 hours)
  • Direct Access to your Google + Page to share photos, videos and posts
  • Direct Access to your AdWords Express and Google Offers

This article indicates that you will receive an email notification once they have upgraded your account, and you should see the new interface once you sign in as usual.   Also, you may see the following message if you log in and the new interface is still pending release.

As with other “NEW” Google early-bird opportunities in the past, I imagine this offer will not be available for long!
