Educational Bytes .011 - Should you "Trash your Flash" in Light of Google Instant Preview?

In light of Google Instant Preview that was released 2 days ago on November 9, 2010, I have heard more than one commentary that it's time to "Trash your Flash" components and have them re-developed using JavaScript / CSS for your photo animation.

This is ABSOLUTELY NOT NECESSARY!   In addition to removing the inviting story your Flash tells so perfectly, you are throwing money down the drain to have it redone.  There is a simple fix.  Just ask your programmer to lay a flat image under the Flash component so that hand held Mobile devices and Google Instant Preview has an image to display in place of the Flash.

Also note that Google is indicating they are working on being able to capture these "Rich Components" on Google Instant Preview.  See their quote below.

Currently, some videos or Flash content in previews appear as a "puzzle piece" icon or a black square. We're working on rendering these rich content types accurately.
