Educational Bytes .008 - Tracking your Google Places Business Listing Visitors in Google Analtyics

Google Places Business Listings are combined with Google Organic Listings in your Google Analytics account.  This video will teach you how to apply a query tracking tag to these listings, so you can separate out your Google Places (Map listing in www.google.com) from your organic listings so you can get an accurate statistic on how many people are clicking the 7 Pack from the Google Places map vs. those clicking your organic listing below it.

  1. We find people STARTING their search on Google Maps. They search on "Virginia Beach Bed and Breakfast" and get a map display with all of the B&Bs marked on a satelight view of Virginia Beach. The left side of the screen has the names and letters of the map markers. This approach lets the traveler 1st see where they might stay THEN investigate the particular B&B
I think this is the way many people travel or plan trips. They pick the location they are planning to stop in or travel to 1st then settle on the inn.
