Acorn on the Road in Brewster Mass at the Isaiah Clark House

Mark and Lisa Kolb took a bit of a detour on their way home to Colorado Springs from the New England Innkeeping Conference and stopped off in Brewster Mass at the Isaiah Clark House Bed and Breakfast. Steve and Philomena graciously opened their home and shared their high speed internet access with their local innkeeping neighbors while Lisa Kolb from Acorn Marketing provided a variety of hands-on training to all those in attendance.

It was great fun meeting with innkeepers at a local inn for the express purpose of helping them with their internet presence. We covered Local Business Listings, 3rd Party vs. Search Engine Reviews, Google Alerts, Google Webmaster Tools and Blogging. I have to say that I think the highlight of the day that the innkeepers enjoyed the most was actually creating their own Google Map and learning where and how they could use Google Maps on their own Web site or Blog.

Some innkeepers created maps for restaurants near their inn or hiking trails or even antique store shopping in the area. Google maps, when created properly, also support your local business listings, so each innkeeper was able to literally use their maps for a variety of purposes from Google identification to guest use!

I want to specially thank Philomena for preparing lunch for everyone in attendance. Her chef skills are off the charts, and the food was absolutely delicious!

We really enjoyed the time we spent with the innkeepers of Brewster and surrounding areas, and are looking forward to even more of our “Acorn on the Road” adventures in 2010!
