Solicitors “Just Say Anything” Sales Tactics

The following blog post is intended to provide supporting documentation for an article being published in our October 2009 newsletter regarding unsolicited e-mails.

… The unethical boldness and scare tactic style of such solicitors may be alarming to some innkeepers. Please beware of any such solicitation. These solicitors are simply attempting to get your business by telling you things that are not true disguised with a "I just thought you'd want to know..." cover story. Think about it. If they were really good at what they did and their services were truly in demand, would they have the time to go out and solicit you individually? Of course not…

Below you will find a list of statements that ARE NOT TRUE. These statements have been brought to our attention as being bandied about in an attempt to discredit Acorn Marketing by solicitors looking to gain your business.

The only way we know how to help our customers and other innkeepers make excellent business decisions is for them to have access to the knowledge and wisdom to be able to discern when they are hearing and experiencing the truth, or are being deceived for someone else's monetary gain.

Quite frankly, we are appalled at the length to which some solicitors are going, to attempt to get your business. I personally think it is despicable for a competitor to lie about another business in the industry just to make themselves look better so they can make a sale. We believe in doing the right thing - - honesty is the only policy. That is why our reputation in this industry speaks for itself.

Bottom Line: Is your Web site being seen? Are you making bookings? Are you Blogging? Twittering? Facebooking? Are you succeeding? No amount of subterfuge (smoke and mirrors) can hide the truth that an Inn is successful.
